Parallel Universe Festival

Another world is possible.

As part of Bristol+Bath’s Creative R&D Pathfinder, Olly was appointed an ‘Expanded Performance’ Fellow in May 2020.

That means joining a fantastic cohort of cutting edge artists, academics, technologists and other industry partners at the Universities of Bath & Bristol & in conjunction with The Watershed, Bristol. The challenge: to consider how emerging digital technologies can be embraced by theatre, which defines itself with words like ‘live’ and ‘together’.

Of course, the research coincided with other world events that made ‘live’ & ‘together’ challenging concepts. As a result, Olly curated a portal into a parallel universe to develop & test strange new ideas from another dimension.

If all of this interests you and you would like to keep right up to speed with how things are going and ways to get involved, or if you are just wondering what ‘performance expansion’ even means, then do get in touch.

Kilter has a strong track record for engaging audiences in a number of ways across a protracted period of time. We include ‘the public’ in our Research & Development, we create communities within our audiences & we leave legacies that last long after the curtain has fallen. In the trade, that’s sometimes called ‘performance expansion’ & it’s very ‘in’ right now.

The PUF looks at what we’ve done before & what we are starting to do now with new technologies changing the possibilities all the time.
