The Digital Scholar

A near-future vision of higher education, where photo-real digital avatars are increasingly deployed as substitutes for human lecturers.

The Digital Scholar is a 25-minute mockumentary, made as part of our Brain Rot collaboration with Universities of Bath & Bristol.

With funding from EPSRC & working in tandem with Professor Richard Owen & the Cyber Security Everywhere CDT we just had so much to say! So we produced this short film, with Caroline playing most of the character roles. This sits alongside our more interactive, live performance lecture, Brain Rot.

The Digital Scholar is available to watch via a link on this page.

It is also available for public or private screenings, paired with a Q&A in which Kilter & collaborators host a conversation about the film and the technology it involves as well as a broader consideration of the future & our responsibilities in creating it!

Previous screenings include:

27th Jan, 2026 @ The Studio (Bath Spa) as part of the Immersive Creators Cluster Lunches
