Wassail!

Apple tree, apple tree,
Bear good fruit,
Or down with your top
And up with your root!

It’s nearly time to wake the orchard once more with our annual Wassail! That delightfully ancient, utterly peculiar custom believed to guarantee a cracking apple harvest in the Autumn. As old as the hills, as daft as a brush, and all the better for it.

Bundle up against the chill, bring a saucepan and a wooden spoon, and prepare to raise the roof with drumming, shouting, and the traditional hurling of toast up into the branches. It’s noisy nonsense with a serious historical pedigree.

Our proceedings will be presided over by January, perched dramatically between past and future, complete with a streaming cold, a trusty bicycle hooter, and a spectacularly overdone Brummie accent.

Expect:

  • Maximum-volume noise making

  • A proper, traditional apple wassail

  • Actors sporting silly hats and outrageous accents

  • Family-friendly games and playful activities

  • Toast — in generous supply

Come along and join the joyful chaos as we toast the trees and usher in a fruitful year ahead!
